Susanne was born and raised in Germany where she worked as a teacher for many years. After her move to the U.S., she dedicated her time to raising her twin daughters and her love for art. Later, she taught German at The Citadel, the Military College of SC, and continued to paint and further explore her creativity.

As a contemporary artist, Susanne has studied with internationally known artists. Her passion is to experiment with different surfaces, media and techniques following spontaneous perceptions. Her art is inspired by emotional responses to places and objects she has seen and people she has met throughout the years. Her award-winning work, shown and juried nationally and internationally, can be found in private and public collections throughout Europe and the USA.

Suzel, Susanne’s signature for her art, is a juried member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA).
