Jan Dennis
Jan was born in Long Beach, California, and as a “military brat”, she and her family moved often. She has always loved drawing, and while living near Washington, D.C. frequently visited the National Gallery at the Smithsonian. She most admired the Impressionist artists’ paintings, especially Monet’s and Sargent’s. Later, living in Annapolis, Maryland, she began painting in watercolor, and drawing in ink and charcoal. While in college, she took courses in drawing, painting, printmaking, and art history. After a 23-year career in IT, she once again took up oil painting, studying with local artists Joyce Hall and Laurie Meyer, attending workshops and online study courses. Jan enjoys painting landscapes, cityscapes, and an occasional portrait or still life. She and her husband reside in Charleston.
