April Featured Artist - Nancy DeMore - "Art that Dares to Dream"

"Dreaming in Bloom"
The Charleston Artist Guild Gallery presents "Art that Dares to Dream", a solo exhibition by Charleston artist Nancy DeMore, on view throughout April 2026. This new collection brings together DeMore’s expressive portrait work—bold, symbolic, and deeply rooted in the emotional language of the Lowcountry.

"The Dream Remembers Her"
Known for her abstract-realist approach, DeMore creates portraits that blend human presence with coastal and floral atmosphere. Figures emerge through layered color, intuitive mark-making, and subtle symbolic elements, inviting viewers into a space where identity, memory, and environment meet. Her subjects often carry the quiet strength of lived experience, rendered with a softness that feels both intimate and expansive.“Portraits allow me to explore the emotional undercurrents we all carry,” DeMore says. “This series is about daring to dream—about stepping into possibility, vulnerability, and the quiet power of being seen.”

"Sanctuary in Bloom"
Guests are invited to attend the opening reception for "Art that Dares to Dream" during the Charleston Art Walk on Friday, April 3, from 5–8 p.m. at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery in Charleston. Visitors can experience the full collection during regular gallery hours and during the First Friday Art Walk.
