June Featured Artist - Alison MacLeod - "Skies, Trees, Water, and Fields"

The Charleston Artist Guild Gallery presents "Skies, Trees, Water, and Fields", a new exhibition of original paintings by artist Alison MacLeod. Alison is the featured artist for the month of June 2026. Alison's work reflects a lifelong curiosity about the world around her — and a willingness to look at it a little differently. Rather than painting the obvious view, she seeks out the unexpected angle: a dead tree, a beached boat, a tree line at night. The result is a body of work that feels both familiar and quietly surprising.
"Desert Palms"
Born in Scotland and raised in Ontario, Alison came to painting later in life with no formal training — though creativity runs deep in her roots. It was her daughter, an art school graduate, who finally coaxed her to pick up a brush, and one afternoon painting together was all it took.

"Nowell Creek"
"Skies, Trees, Water, and Fields" is a celebration of that journey and an invitation to see the everyday world through fresh eyes. Guests are invited to attend the opening reception for "Skies, Trees, Water, and Fields" during the Charleston Art Walk on Friday, June 5, from 5–8 p.m. at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery at 160 E. Bay Street in downtown Charleston. The exhibition will remain until June 30. Visitors can experience the full collection during regular gallery hours and during the First Friday Art Walk.
